Baby massage is a skill both you and your baby will learn, so choosing the right time is essential. Aim to massage when your baby is content, not when they’re hungry, tired, or right after feeding. Massaging just after a meal, especially the tummy, can cause them to throw up. You can, however, try massaging their legs or feet after a feed. Babies are sensitive to your stress, so ensure you’re relaxed too. For babies with reflux, massage is best before feeding and positioning them on our K’nuffel will help.
Avoid massaging if your baby is hungry, overtired, or crying.
Don’t massage if your baby has a fever, a skin condition, or is generally unwell.
Wait 48 hours after an immunisation and avoid the injection site for one week.
Do not wake your baby for a massage or massage their tummy right after feeding.
Avoid areas of broken, sore, or inflamed skin.
If your baby has a medical condition, consult your healthcare provider before starting baby massage.

Baby massage can relieve common ailments, but it’s a skill that takes time to learn. Patience, practice, and consistency are key.
